The Lelia Bascom Memorial Scholarship

The Lelia Bascom Memorial Scholarship was established in honor of Lelia Bascom, who decided at a very early age that missionary work in Venezuela was God’s call for her life. she took four years of Spanish in preparation for that call. She compeleted her preparation at Biola in the late 1930s, and was in Venezuela by the summer of 1941, serving with the Orinoco River mission.

This scholarship is awarded by the Cook School of Intercultural Studies to a junior, senior, or graduate student studying Intercultural Studies at Biola.
