April Jace Memorial Scholarship
The April Jace Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of April Jace, who worked in the Biola Financial Aid office until her passing in spring 2014. It is awarded to underrepresented students serving or planning to serve in an urban context who have experienced or witnessed violence in their home or neighborhood. April’s passion for education was equal only to her love of running. She was known for her exuberant manner, her graceful style, and her ability to build community. April came to know the Lord along with her two older brothers in Inglewood, California, as a teenager. She worked at Biola in Financial Aid from 2012 to 2014. April had a radiant smile that could light up any room, and her laughter was contagious. On May 19, 2014, April was shot and killed in her home. She was 40 years old. Her vitality and kindness are missed by many.
